Does G-D Answer Prayer?

prayer3
      Have you ever asked yourself this question, maybe not out loud, but at some point questioned G-D in your
heart, "Does He hear me when I talk to Him?  Will He answer me?"

     Take a moment and go over some prayers that you have requested from G-D lately and examine them in the light of Torah, and in the knowledge of who G-D is.    For many of us prayer has become a way of bribing G-D, pleading with Him, or as outrageous as it sounds,  educating Him !

     The most common idea of prayer is that after we have done everything within our own capacity, when we finally get to the point where we can go no further, we drop on our knees giving G-D permission to "interfere" in the matter, giving Him the lists of how we want Him to handle things and what results we are looking for .  We then let Him know that we will do something for Him after we receive the answer we want.  Is that not what many people do most of the time, if not all of the time?

     The Torah tells us that the L-RD longs for the prayers of the righteous. Prayer is greater than offering sacrifices. Prayer is a form of worship.  Worshipping G-D is a spiritual necessity for the believer.   One must speak to His Maker, to beseech Him, to experience His nearness.
      So what does prayer mean to you?  In other words, why do you pray , and how do you pray?  Do you use your brain when talking to G-D or do you just babel along?  What do you believe about G-D in prayer?  Is He your friend?  Is He your Master and King?  Let us bring the answer to these questions into our present reality.
      Let us say on a certain day you receive an invitation to dine with the President of the United States at the White House!   You have the opportunity to talk to Him about anything that concerns you.  What do you do?  Of course for us women the first thing we think about is, "Oh, I do not have anything to wear!"  But seriously, how do you get ready for that special once in a lifetime event?

      First of all, you must get a new dress!  Not any dress, but the best dress you can get.  New shoes , expensive perfume, new accessories, new hairstyle.  Learn how to apply your makeup perfectly, think and prepare your conversation using intelligent vocabulary, and being at your best.  Imagine the feeling of walking into the White House knowing that the President is awaiting your arrival!   The awe of being in the presence of  such an important individual; the feeling of happiness that you have been chosen out of millions of people for such an  honorable  visit.     Now you have gone through all of this for the sake of meeting another human being just like yourself for a brief moment.    But what about G-D?  Do you approach Him with the same attitude and demeanor when in prayer?  How do you act when in His presence?  Do you really know who HE IS?  Do you give Him the proper respect that He deserves?
     The major problem that most of us have when it comes to our struggle of prayer, is that most of us lack the understanding of knowing who G-D really is.   Yes, He is your Father, the one that loved you so much to send Yeshua to die for you, but NEVER FORGET, that He is your Creator, the one who made you and gave you life.  He is not the old man that you can charm to get what you want, but He is Almighty G-D, your Master, your King!
      Listen to what G-D says about who He is and how He introduces Himself to you and I.

mountainsWho has measured the waters in the hollow of  His hand, and meted  out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mounatins on a scale, and the hills in a balance?
                         Who has meted out the Spirit of YHWH?  Or who was His counsellor that he might instruct Him?
                         With whom took He counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of right, and taught Him knowledge, and made Him to know the way of discernment?
                         Behold the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance; behold the isles are as a mote in weight.
                         And the L'vanon is not sufficient fuel, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for burnt offerings.
                        All the nations are as nothing before Him; they are accounted by Him as things of nought and vanity.
                        To whom then will you liken El?  Or what likeness will you compare unto Him?
                        The image perchance, which the craftsman has melted, and the goldsmith spread over with gold, the silversmith casting silver chains?
                        A holm-oak is set apart, he chooses a tree that will not rot; he seeks unto him a cunning craftsman to set up an image, that shall not be moved.
                        Know you not? Hear you not?  Hasi it not been told you from the beginning?  Have you not understood the foundations of the earth?
                       globe It is He that sits above the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in;
                       That brings princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth as a thing of nought.
                       Scarce are they planted, scarce are they sown, scare has their stock taken root in the earth; when He blows upon them, they wither, and the whirlwind takes them away as stubble.
                       To whom then will you liken Me, that I should be equal? says HaKadesh.
                                                                            Yeshu'Yahu (Isaiah) 40:12-25

Prayer, my friend, is an act of daring, otherwise it is impossible to stand in prayer before G-D.  If we cannot even imagine the greatness of the creator, how can we stand in prayer before Him?  Prayer is a mystery directed in its essence towards changing the order of the world.  I cannot even come close to fathom it's mystery.   You see everthing in this world is fixed in it's order. Yet, when we pray, we are asking Him to change the order of nature.   My point is that we only comprehend the fact that G-D exists, but not His essence.  In other words , we only understand that He is but not WHAT HE IS.
            Does the L-RD hear our prayers?  The answer is yes, the L-RD hears prayers and always answers them.  He does not always give us the answer that we are seeking for His ways are not our ways.    Yesha'Yahu (Isaiah) 55:8

         Here are some considerations to keep in mind when we approach G-D in prayer.
  *When you pray you must be conscious of the meaning of the words you utter. Do not babel.
     To clarify the meaing of the word "babel" , here is the definiton according to the encylopedia;

 "a tower built by the descendants of Noach who intended it to reach up to the heaven; G-D foiled them by confusing their language so they could no longer understand one another."
Did you catch the last part ? "NO LONGER UNDERSTAND ONE ANOTHER."

Here is yet another definition that unfortunately fits us as humans perfectly.   "To talk much or volubly."  The word volubly means to jump from one subject to another instead of focusing on the issue.  The issue being what we came to Adonai in prayer about.

     G-D bless all of us women.   We can talk and sometimes a lot.  I know because I am one of you.  Just be aware that you are in the presence of the King of Kings who is listening to you.  Reverence and respect His Majesty!  Be focused and choose your words.  Write them down if this is helpful to you.

Proverbs 18:21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 20:15  There is gold and a multitude of rubies; but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

   *Whenever you find a description of the greatness of Almighty , you will find a description of His consideration for the lowly.
